Why Lightroom
I use lightroom because Apple hasn't released Aperture for Windows. I know that the release of Aperture came before Lightroom, but Adobe was working on Lightroom first.
Well it is actually Photoshop Lightroom and it is workflow software.
If I can I like to shoot tethered so I can make sure I have the shot I want. I know that my Canon has a pretty good screen, but sometimes a larger screen is, well just better. If you shoot Canon then you can use Canon's free EOS Utility. This is a good option if you're a Canon shooter.

Your Screen vs. Your Camera vs. Photograph
Your screen is 72 dpi. Unless they change something. Photos look better on the computer screen then printed. Well I say it is because it is a light box that confuses your eye.
But do not take my word for it here are some facts ...
Resolution
Resolution is expressed in dots per inch (dpi) or pixels per inch (ppi). Printing requires higher resolution than computer viewing.

It all began when I downloaded the Beta
Yes I was a beta user. Maybe I missed the offer to get lightroom at a lowercost, or the fact that I only had a point and shoot and Picasa could more then cover what I shot.
I had always wanted to getback into the SLR frame of things.
When I did I lauched the beta, it didn't work (expired).
So I downloaded the demo, the rest is history ...
